About Me

Daniel Salazar is a classical guitar performer and educator with over 10 years of experience from Southern California. He is dedicated to creating an eclectic experience for his audiences. From baroque lute suites to modern new music written for him, Daniel’s concert performances are curated to lead audiences on a musical journey. Daniel is currently teaching privately through the Eastman Community Music School as a guitar intern. 

Daniel has participated in festivals and competitions around the US and Spain. As a competitor, he has won awards such as The Los Angeles Secondary Music Teachers Association Annual Scholarship. He has participated in the Guitar Foundation of America convention, the Guitar Foundation National School Summit, the Louisville Guitar Festival, and the La Guitarra Española summer festival. Daniel has performed in masterclasses led by Pepe Romero, Scott Tennant, Dale Kavanagh, Elliot Fisk, Rafael Aguirre, Margarita Escarpa, Andrew York, Sungmin Shin, and many others.

Daniel started his music studies with Stephen Jones at Pasadena City College. From there, he transferred to California State University, Fullerton, to complete a Bachelor of Music degree under the guidance of Xavier Jara and Martha Masters. During his time at Fullerton, Daniel became a member of Mu Phi Epsilon – Beta Alpha chapter. After completing his undergraduate degree, Daniel was awarded a scholarship to the University of Louisville to obtain a Master of Music in Guitar Performance with an emphasis on String Pedagogy at the University of Louisville under the mentorship of Stephen Mattingly. As of the fall season of 2024, Daniel is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at Eastman School of Music with Nicholas Goluses as his instructor. Daniel has also been fortunate to study with Taso Comanescu of Pepperdine and Scott Morris of California State University, Dominguez Hills.
